It is crucial to choose the appropriate coolant for your water-cooled spindle and the surrounding environment. Our primary suggestion is to use distilled water, which is readily available at most grocery stores. Tap water from households should not be used as it can lead to the accumulation of scale in the water lines and the spindle's water jacket, which can restrict the flow of water and diminish the cooling efficiency.
Preventing the growth of algae and mold in the coolant reservoir is necessary. To avoid the growth of mold and algae and sterilize the water, add eight drops of bleach per gallon of water.
In environments where the temperature cannot be controlled, such as in cold weather, precautions must be taken. We suggest utilizing Prestone RV antifreeze, which can be obtained at a nearby big-box store or automobile parts store. This coolant has been evaluated and tested for use with both the bucket and submersible pump included with the 2HP Spindle kits and the E-cool system with the 3HP Spindle Kit.
