Model numbers are used with the CNC Shark series to set the motor steps per inch values and can be different between the various CNC Shark releases. If you have recently upgraded to the HD Controller and Pendant or upgraded to the HD5 Gantry, you may need to update your model number.
If your CNC Machine is not listed on this quick reference chart, please see the steps below for testing and determining your CNC machine's model number.

CNC Machine | Model Number |
SD100 | 300 |
SD101 | 400 |
SD110 | 102 |

Determining your Model number:
Set the Model number to a constant value using the LCD Pendant:
- From the Main Jog screen, select Setup.
- Scroll down by selecting the down arrow and select Model Number.
- Tap on the number displayed in the top right corner.
- Enter the model number (Example: 4003) then press OK to save.
- Press the "X" in the top right corner.
- Proceed to Test the axis Travel.
Test the axis Travel. (Pendant)
- Make a pen mark on the spoilboard.
- If there is no spoilboard clamp a piece of material that is 6”x6” or larger to the deck of the machine.
- Move and lower the router bit to the mark on the material surface.
- Select the Zero XYZ button on the LCD Pendant.
- Press OK to accept the change.
- Tap the 0.000 number readout above the Z+/- buttons.
- A number pad will come up.
- Enter the number 2 (for HD machines) / 1 (for SD machines), then select the red Move button.
- The Z-axis will raise what the machine thinks is two inches or one inch.
- Measure the physical distance between the material surface and the tip of the router bit.
- Note the distance for Z.
- Repeat steps 3 through 5 for the X and then Y axes.
- Note the distance for X.
- Note the distance for Y.
- See the chart below for the correct Model number.
