SHARK® 3D Digitizing Probe - Store Link
Using the SHARK® 3D Digitizing Probe, it is possible to create a duplicate of an object. The Digitizing Probe is designed to be mounted in a router collet, similar to a router bit, using a 1/4-inch shank. To copy an existing 3D shape, decorative trim, or molding, simply place the object on the SHARK® Aluminum InterLoc T-Slot bed and use the LCD Pendant to run the Digitizer App. This technique is particularly useful for luthiers, furniture makers, and restoration work, as it enables the replication of basic shapes for carvings or damaged areas on antiques or other irreplaceable items.
The probe operates by gently touching the object and taking measurements along the surface. Accurate and reliable measurements are provided by tactile switches located inside the probe, which can make millions of contacts. However, it is important to note that softer materials such as clay, basswood, or plaster may be marked by the probe's tip. It is recommended to test a small area of the material before scanning the entire piece.
The SHARK® 3D Digitizing Probe will output to your flash drive a .DNW file that needs to be converted into a .STL file using the link below.
