Conducting a Firmware Update on the Controller
To keep both the Main Control Box (Controller) and LCD Pendant communicating properly, a firmware update to one should be followed up with an update to the other.
For information on how to update the firmware on your LCD pendant - click here.
You will need to connect your control box to the computer using an A-B USB cable, also referred to as a printer USB cable.
1. First, you will need to make sure that you have unplugged your router or VFD from its power source.
2. Open the Ready2Update Firmware program and click on the 'Program Controller' button to begin the firmware update process.
3. Once the update process has begun, you will see a Firmware Update window appear containing a blue bar with a moving yellow brick in it. When you see this moving yellow brick, follow the directions written just below the blue bar. You will see one of two sets of instructions.
A. Waiting for controller to be placed in Boot Mode. For Boot Mode instructions - click here.
- or -
B. Restart controller (not in boot-mode).
4. With the most recent firmware update, you will not likely be prompted to put your controller in boot mode, in which case you would then just power your control box off for a few seconds and then power the control box back on. You should then see 'Programming Complete' displayed in the 'Firmware Update' window. You can then click on the 'Done' button. Your controller firmware update is now complete.
