Entering Boot Mode during a Firmware Update
While conducting a firmware update on your control box, you may be prompted to put your control box into Boot Mode. 'Boot Mode' is the state in which a Next Wave CNC control box is ready to receive firmware updates. The guide below will walk you through this process step-by-step.
You will need either a touch plate cable or a 1/8" drill bit.
1. If you see the yellow brick moving through the blue bar while conducting a firmware update on your control box, then you will need to follow the directions just below the blue bar.
2. To enter Boot Mode, power off your control box while it is still connected to your computer using the USB/printer cable. The auxiliary port on the control box needs to have its circuit closed. This can be done by plugging in a touch plate, taping a steel washer to the touch plate, and holding the magnet on the other end of the touch plate cable to the steel washer on the aluminum touch plate. If no touch plate is available, inserting the smooth end of a 1/8" bit into the port will work as well.
3. While the circuit is closed, power on the control box. The control box is now in Boot Mode.
4. If you are to prompted restart your control box NOT in Boot Mode, follow the steps just below the blue bar.
