If you see that the cooling liquid isn't flowing through the hoses and flow meter with the spindle motor, the first thing to do is figure out if the problem is within the spindle motor or the pump. To do this, unplug the pump and the VFD inverter, and place a container under the spindle motor. Then use a 9/16" wrench to detach the hose that brings in the cooling liquid to the spindle motor. If you're not sure which hose is which, disconnect both. Once the hose is off the spindle motor, put it into a small bucket to catch any water or liquid that comes out. Then, plug the pump back in to turn it on.
- If water or coolant comes out of the line, the pump is good and there is a blockage in the spindle motor or return coolant hose. Click HERE for steps to remove a blockage from the spindle motor.
- If no water or coolant comes out of the hose, the next part to check is the pump.
- 75W submersible pump - If the submersible pump is no longer moving coolant, it will need to be replaced. A replacement can be purchased using the link here - Water Cooled Spindle Replacement Pump.
- eCOOL pump - If the eCool pump is no longer moving coolant, please see further troubleshooting steps here - eCOOL not pushing coolant.
